YOUTH PARLIAMENT PAKISTAN 2009-2010 STUDY VISIT TO UK

Study Visit to United Kingdon for a select delegation of the Youth Parliament Pakistan, that is taking place from July 04-09, 2010, has been facilitated by PILDAT to provide an opportunity to the Youth Parliament members to interact with the UK Youth Parliament, understand the workings of the House of Commons, UK, hold interactions with young office bearers of youth wings of UK's leading political parties and engage in a dialogue with the British youth, especially the Pakistani diaspora, on issues of mutual concern and interest. August 2010

YOUTH PARLIAMENT PAKISTAN 2009-2010

SAs a model Parliament for young people, the Youth Parliament Pakistan is patterned after the National Assembly of Pakistan although its membership is smaller than that of the National Assembly. Wherever possible, the Youth Parliament follows the rules of procedures as close to the National Assembly as practical. However, better practices from other Parliaments are adopted to expose Pakistani Youth to better Parliamentary practices.September 2009

STUDY VISIT REPORT OF THE YOUTH PARLIAMENT PAKISTAN 2008-09 DELEGATION TO UNITED KINGDOM

The Study tour of the Youth Parliament to the British Parliament and British political system in general was about the Pakistani Youth understanding the dynamics of the Parliaments and gaining a proper understanding of the whole political system of Britain. It was about equipping the Youth with the useful acumen and information about how things work in the British political system and using that insight back home. It was also about finding out how the British society has developed into what it is today.July 2009

PAKISTAN DEBATES [URDU]

“Pakistan Debates” is a PILDAT special initiative to discuss some important ideological, social, economic and democratic issues of Pakistan. Pakistani youth as well as informed citizen are invited to participate in “Pakistan Debates” to have a healthy and meaningful discussion on these topics. There would be a set pattern for debate in which arguments will be given for and against the issue and decision would be made on audience votes. 13 episodes are recorded in collaboration with Geo TV Network which would be aired on ‘Aag’ channel and ‘Geo News’ from March, 2009.

UPDATED - PROPOSED REVIVAL OF STUDENTS UNIONS IN PAKISTAN: SEPTEMBER 2008

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani announced the restoration of Students’ Unions while spelling out his government’s agenda after receiving a unanimous vote of confidence from the National Assembly on March 29, 2008. The ban on students’ unions was originally imposed through Martial Law Orders issued in 1984 during the rule of the then Chief Martial Law Administrator cum President General Zia-ul-Haq.September 2008
